Notholaena
The genus Notholaena (or cloak ferns) consists of around 30 species, 24 of which are endemic to Mexico, with 12 species occuring in the United States. They are typically found on or amoung rocks in warm, seasonally dry areas.
A single species, Notholaena californica, is endemic to California.
Previously, Notholaena has been classified as what we now know as the genus Argyrochosma, or included in the genus Cheilanthes.
