Brainea
Brainea insignis (common name cycad fern) is the only living species of the genus, and is endemic to Thailand, Indonesia, West Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and southern China.

This rare fern is a member of the family Blechnaceae, and forms a trunk about 100 cm (39 inches) in height by about 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter, with the fronds forming a crown at the top of the trunk.
It is considered a vulnerable species in China, and plants in the wild are under State protection (category II).
